Been riding my G2 Master for about 7 months and 2700 km so far. Here is the pros and cons so far.
Pros
* Great range
* Reasonable price
* Good acceleration
* Battery life seems good
* Good night visibility
* Good traction on uneven surfaces
* Steering handle height is adjustable
Cons
* Terrible breaks (will come back to this later)
* Torsional vibrations at 30km/h that are almost unbearable
* No function to turn off just signal lights when in lit up mode
* Handle bar handles are a bit loose
* Creaking from the steering column/instability in the column
* Instrumentational buttons are not ergonomic/logically placed
* Rather have a normal bell than a sounding horn
* Wierd name in Swedish language
The G2 master at it's retail price is perhaps one of the best speed-for-value scooters on the market with good acceleration and good off-road characteristics.
However, at it's price I feel that some tradeoffs and compromises are in play.
From almost the get-go I experienced torsional vibrations near the 30 km/h speed and subsequent rattling of the break pads kept hammering against the break disc. Same sound emerged at almost any speed when turning, most likely to gyroscopic effects. The breaks have been functioning ok for 7 months, but they were not tuned/alingned from thr factory and the whole setup with wired breaks just feels off at a scooter with 65 km/h max speed. Had to take it several times to a shop to adjust the breaks. The breaks feels like a cheap build.
In efforts to combat the problem the breaks had to be manually adjusted and ultimately had to be fit with a dampening paste just to keep the rattling down.
Biggest comfort issue is however the vibrations from the electric motors.
They are strong motors but there is a feeling that emphasis is not on smooth riding but pushing speed instead and these motors go through some regions of frequency instability/resonance. Even when standing with 10-states boots and on the rubber mat I can still feel a tingling sensation after a ride to work in my legs. This is not smooth at all.
I have told myself also that the next scooter in my inventory are to have slicks and not dirt bike road wheels which themselves add to vibrations on flat surfaces. Maybe my bad here chosing this model.
Today as I am writing this the front break completely broke and I am thinking about getting a new one from the warranty. Unfortunately I had to use it hard today as I was pinned in a difficult trafic situation. Had not the back break worked I would have been hit by a bus... But it was too close, and breaks should never fail like this.
Having the light effects include the signal lights is just plainly hazardous as these should only be used for signalling even if they are not blinking in light mode. Just change this.
Having an off-road vehicle it should be built as such. The steering column is creeking and giving away to movement and it should be stiffer, maybe just cancel the hight adjustment altogether.
Even after 7 months I still have a hard time finding the buttons blindly without looking. Having 4 buttons pressed together in one cluster is illogical, and having a sounding horn going off once in a while by accident when trying to turn signal is not good. Possition on the bar is also wierd, and hard to reach as you need to hold firmly on to the bar with both hands. It needs to be improved. Speed adjustment buttons are positioned good after small adjustment.
Riding the G2 has not been terrible, but not good, it is an ok value for money with trade-offs and quality issues that you can assume comes with the small price tag. Off-road is great, but on-road is rough on your legs and body even with dual suspension. Vibrations are rough. I checked, there are no street tyres for this model.
I must say that the most comments about the scooter is the name. Use google translate and google "Kuk" to Swedish. It's no joke, just keep the name "Kugoo Kirin" instead :)
Looking forward to getting the G3 with hydraulic breaks. That scooter with hopefully feel more "premium".
