Electric Scooter Maintenance: A Practical KuKirin Checklist

Small checks prevent large failures

Use the manual for the exact model and stop riding if anything feels loose, damaged, overheated or abnormal. This checklist does not replace model-specific service instructions.

Before every ride

  • Check tyre pressure or solid-tyre condition, cuts and embedded debris.
  • Test both brakes at low speed and confirm levers return normally.
  • Check steering, stem, folding latch, visible fasteners and wheel security.
  • Confirm lights, indicators and horn where fitted.
  • Inspect the deck, cables, charge-port cover and battery area for damage or moisture.

Weekly for frequent riders

  • Clean with a damp cloth; never pressure wash or immerse the product.
  • Inspect brake pads, discs and cable or hydraulic condition.
  • Look for rubbing cables, loose accessories and abnormal tyre wear.
  • Check that suspension moves smoothly without leaks or play.

Battery and charging

  • Use the correct supplied or approved charger.
  • Charge on a dry, stable, non-flammable surface with ventilation.
  • Do not charge a wet, damaged, swollen, unusually hot or frozen battery.
  • Keep the charge port clean and dry; disconnect after charging is complete.
  • For storage, follow the manual’s charge-level and recharge-interval instructions.

After rain, dirt or winter salt

Dry the product, clean corrosive residue gently and inspect connectors, brakes and fasteners. An IP rating is not permission for deep water, pressure washing or wet charging.

When to stop and ask for service

Stop riding for brake fade, steering play, cracked structure, damaged battery housing, exposed wiring, burning smell, repeated error codes, unusual noise or unexpected power loss. Contact support with the model, serial number and clear photos or video.
